Hi,
My full copy of Gobe Productive 2.0 will no longer load. I get a
message saying 'this prerelease version has expired'.
I have the reatail version so a little surprised to get this message. If
I set my date back the program will load and run as normal.
Can anybody with the same version confirm their copy still works ? I
have emailed Gobe and if I get a reply I will post their responce here.

Thanks,
Mike

PS
Sorry if this is a dupicate my original message did not appear in
the newsgroup.

I confirm,
my installation of Gobe (purchased 2.0 retail version) don' t work
("this prerelease version has expired", and after that "Gobe not an
executable" messages).
I have read this
http://yellowtab.com/phorum/phorum.php?read,4,115319,page=2

but even 2.0.1 update found here doesn' t work for me on BeOS 5.0.3 PRO

Thanks for your helpful reply, it's not just me then.

Like you I tried the update from bezip but it said there was a checksum
error with an original file. ;-(

Too early for a responce from Gobe, but I don't plan to just shrug and
go away.

I get the same error, maybe should there be a good updater to 2.0.1 on
beshare? I don't know

But I have noticed that trial version
http://www.bebits.com/app/1660
doesn't have the time-bomb inside...

This must suck for you.

My version of Gobe is a 2.01 CD and does work fine on my machine. See if you
can find an owner of said CD to install it over your version.

Thanks for the reply, it is kind of unbelievable that commercial
software has timed out.
Going to give Gobe a chance to respond to my email.

There was a file to upgrade 2.0 to 2.01 on the Gobe site a few years
ago. Unfortunately it was not stored by www.webarchive.org

The update file required is GPX8620-201-R5.pkg and the only version I
can find on the web is corrupt. ;-(
I don't suppose it came with your version ?

It looks like several other people have been caught out by this, I think
we all bought from www.purplus.com
In fact they are still selling it, so I will also email them to make
them aware of the situation.

Good luck with your programming, its a lonely place on
comp.sys.be.programmer

I have e-mailed them (Gobe) too,
and I'm waiting for a reply.

I saw there were three kind of updates to Gobe 2.0.1:

for BeOS R4.5 - x86
for BeOS R5.* -x8
for BeOS PPC

I 'm going still to wait Gobe-reply (for example I have a Mac that could run
BeOS PPC and Gobe)
but for x86 R5 box I found a right updater to 2.0.1 on BeSHARE
Now Gobe runs ok
If you want, I can e-mail you the file
GPX8620-201-R5.PKG
I zipped it here and it is about 4.2-4.3 MB
I don' t know the people behind BeBITS or Bezip,
but someone should tell them that their updaters to Gobe 2.0.1 on their
sites
don' t work with R5- x86 anymore, that is they are corrupt.

Bye

Thanks to Earl Colby Pottinger for trying to make the file available.
As Andreas points out the link does not work.

With the help of 'Di passaggio a nord ovest', who has trouble sending
large files from his ISP, I now have the file and Gobe works again. ;-)

I can email it anyone who wants the file as a tempory measure until some
way is found to host it.
Bebits dont seem to want to host non original software. They would of
course if Gobe requested it, and it seems like the most obvious place,
apart from the Gobe site of course.

Gobe still have not responded to my email so not opimistic of any help
from them, although I would love to be proved wrong.

Just take out removetohere after the @ in my email address .

^_^;;

Gobe still have not responded to my email
Gobe haven't still responded to my email too

I have to say that
I' ve got a ***@225 Macintosh with BeOS PPC R5.0.3 PRO
and Gobe 2.0 installed.

Well. there, on PPC, I have seen that v2.0*PPC* seems to be NOT time bombed
so it doesn't need to be updated to v2.0.1 (I even don't know what file
sould I
look for the updater)

BUT I have seen that "time preference application" doesn't permit to set
system clock to
years that are after 2010...

Yes, I still can set them on another OS but....
I don't want to think about that right now ^_^;
uhm there is time to do a new "time preference app"...
I don't think it is a major issue.
